REGULAR ORDER: Winston Churchill makes it a December 26 Joint meeting to remember

4

Normally, the U.S. Capitol is quiet the day after Christmas. But not in 1941. 19 days after the attack on Pearl Harbor - ‘a date which will live in infamy,’ as President Roosevelt told the nation - lawmakers gathered to hear from the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, who had come to Washington for war planning. Few lawmakers were in town, so the speech was not held in the House Chamber as is normal for foreign leaders.

But it was a speech to remember.

Jamie 2.0 tells the story.

If you’re not familiar with why I call my voice “Jamie 2.0” - you can watch some of this video.
