We tend to forget that old-school Republicans didn't hesitate to tackle big national issues.

All were confirmed by the Senate.
That was the court making the Brown decision which led to school desegregation.
Ike was right in that laws will never force people to be friends. However, good laws can encourage friendships among people who might otherwise never meet; bad laws can drive a wedge between them.
Marco, forcing border security to be included in these bills is just as much "blackmail" as keeping it out.
Normally I would agree the fundraising gap would be a serious issue, but so many already know who they are voting for. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact it still has.
Certainly it means the Biden campaign has the resources to pounce, but Trump is very good at getting free press coverage.
