“blocking the Speaker from raising money to help challenge any GOP incumbent in Congress” but Citizens United is OK. Apparently, in the GOP a corporation is a person but the Speaker of the House is not.
"So far, the Freedom Caucus has not rallied behind a candidate. But supposedly they have one - and it's not a member of the House." A while back, there was a suggestion to nominate Trump as Speaker. Nightmare stuff!
It is so pleasantly refreshing to see Congress getting work done on behalf of the American people. I don't think we'll see much of that under a republican Congress.
In a way I wish the primary system would go away and instead just let a group of the party leaders in a dark and smoky room, perhaps with some bourbon or scotch, pick their candidate. We'd be less likely to get candidates who cater to the fringes (DJT for instance) and I think it would also cut down on just the overall acerbic tenor of the nation.
