“HOUSE. Let me just weigh in on what's happening in the House overall. I worry that my nuts and bolts presentation in this newsletter doesn't convey it strongly enough.”
I hate to say it Jamie, but you might have to start using emojis in your newsletter for extra emphasis. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Did the GOP change the calendar or does March still follow February. I understand that work gets done when they are at home with their constituents but 2 days to finish the budget seems a bit tight for something that is 5 months late.
The funny part is that the original calendar was for them to be off until March 4 - but the Speaker two-part CR set March 1 and March 8, so they had to come back early from their February break. The Freedom Caucus guys will blow a vein when the double Omnibus gets dropped on them
My thoughts exactly. February has 29 days this year but I don't see how they'll get all this done by the March 1 deadline. It's beyond me how they just fold and go home for weeks at a time without accomplishing anything (Oh, OK, aside from an evidence-free impeachment).
The disfunction is so bad at this point, one can only assume it's by design. It actually behooves them not to govern because they can blame the Dems on problems that their constituents don't know that they are refusing to resolve because of how the consume news. Informational ignorance is really a shame.
I see that informational ignorance all the time. It was always there, but got going with the Tea Party. I remember doing a C-SPAN call-in show back in 1990. A woman from Georgia called in and complained that the press wasn't talking about a certain issue. The host said, 'How did you find out about it.' "I read it in the newspaper."
“The third-ranking House Republican, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), said yesterday in an interview with Bloomberg TV that no more temporary funding plans will be approved by the House.”
The gop simply sucks. They demand a border solution before they fund Israel and Ukraine, then refuse to even discuss or vote on that presented bi-partisan bill.
They say they won’t fund the government by the deadline that THEY set, then they take the remaining time to the deadline to leave Washington.
They claim they care about classified info, then a intel committee chair reveals secret info.
They love impeaching innocent men, even when the ONLY witness is found to be a liar, when there’s literally zero evidence.
Is there even one republican here who would like to defend this crap they are pulling?

I mean at this point another temporary funding plan or two and we would be at the next fiscal year. So a temporary funding plan could actually just be called a funding plan.

Maybe some red siren lights 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
That’s a good start. My personal favorite are the eyeballs. So much is said with so little: 👀👀👀

They sure can't pass anything substantive on their own. And what happens in March will be no different. That's why you can't rule out a shutdown.
Thank you Jamie! You are my only reliable source for news on The Hill!
