If the House ethics committee doesn’t release their findings can the Senate Committee subpoena it for the hearings? I know it’s doubtful to happen because a majority would have to request the information. Just curious.

A follow up. If Gaetz doesn’t get the AG office would he have time to run for Sen. Rubio’s seat?

The House and Senate would never turn over documents like that. For example, when the House Jan. 6 committee wanted to interview various Senate officials about the attack on the Capitol, Senate Democrats refused to allow them to answer questions.

What about a leak? You say Gaetz is hated on Capitol Hill, so there's motive.

Leaks from the Ethics Committee would be very bad karma

I am like the Senator saying wtf this is. gaetz is like a joke. I really don't get it. Then I had a thought. What if Trump is purposely pulling from the house and senate to make the margins even thinner or lose them so when the agenda does not get pushed through he can blame Congress. I mean MTG seems to be getting passed over also LB. They are two of his most faithful followers is he not going to reward them. But please ein the name of all that is holy do not give them ambassador potions. We don't need to ship our crazy outside the US. Lol

I think it plays out that Gaetz will withdraw shortly. He wins in a way because the ethics probe doesn't get released and he gets set up to run for gov in FL, Trump wins because his other WTF nominees now don't look as bad, and Johnson wins because he doesn't have that jack ass to deal with.

Nonono.. no Gaetz for Fl gov.. nonono..lol. ugh . There's just something about him that doesn't sit well and I don't say that a lot.

I hope someone leaks the ethics report then.

I thought maybe it gets him out of the house and if he screws up? He is replaced and out of a job from here on out.. No more politics. 🤷‍♀️

Would DeSantis appoint him for the rest of Rubio's term?

Am I the only one wondering how long it will be before a DC hotel adds a Trump logo?

Every time I see a headline with Trump’s latest nomination, I check to see if it an Onion article. Sadly, it isn’t. I joked before that during the campaign, Trump said stuff to see just how far out he could go and not lose any support. Not a joke now. Get ready for Cannon to be the next SCOTUS nominee.

Speaking of The Onion, they just bought Infowars! It's true. I started my day with a belly laugh.

All too often the media is holding its punches re Gaetz and Trump. For example, ABC news,on the 19th, only referred to Gaetz’s sexual improprieties, neglecting to note the sleaze in Gaetz that has nothing to do with sex.

Jamie, Bolton this morning called for FBI investigations into Gaetz and Gabbard before Senate confirmation hearings. Any hope of that?

The FBI always does a background check on major nominations. Whether that will be allowed after Jan 20 is another issue.

That's a scary thought.

Question: why does the Senate have a secret vote for leader and the house a public vote for speaker?

Both parties in the House have closed door votes for their party leadership. They just elect a Speaker when they are in session. The Senate didn't start out with a Majority Leader. That position only became official after the 1912 elections.

The house speaker is voted on by the entire house. The senate majority leader is chosen by just their party.

This is to avoid any controversy with each other? The secret vote?

I would think so. Look what the public vote does in the House lately. Yikes.

The leaders of the dems and repubs in the house was chosen in secret. Fo you have a problem with that?
