Supreme Court should have 12 judges and a Chief Justice. This would allow each Judicial Circuit to be represented. Specialty Circuit like Patent should have a Justice who is a Patent Attorney. My recommendation for the ‘regular’ circuits would be for the Justices to have s significant connection to that circuit, such as:
Having gone to law school within that circuit or have a decade or more of service within that geographic area.
We currently have TOO MANY IVY LEAGUE educated judges, this skews our laws to a very entitled group.
I do agree that Justice Thomas should resign or be impeached
Justice Alito should be impeached for lying to the Senate during his hearings for we all watched him lie in reference to judicial precedents to n live TV
The GOP has twisted itself into some grotesque Kabuki performance. Its almost impossible to imagine how reasonable, moderate conservatives could save the party from either irreverence or some kind of American authoritarianism.
"I’m going to say this again...the nine Justices of the Supreme Court have the weakest ethical standards in entire the federal government."
I've seen you use this phrasing before. May I suggest you write
"weakest [written/official/something] standards" to clarify for those of us who don't think about this stuff every day. It sounds less ad hominem (though probably deserved), and more about unarguable fact.
(also, you've got a word transposition near the end of that sentence, fwiw)
I know it's not an attack. I assume you mean an official Code of Conduct or statutory rules. But a casual (or intentionally combative) reader might choose to read "weakest ethical standards" as you impugning Justices' personal standards (subjective) as opposed to published, public ones (objective).
On the third hand, the heart of this really _is_ their personal standards, so I don't really know what I'm nattering on about. It's all so discouraging.
Anyway, thanks for your work over the years, and now. It's a breath of fresh air, as always.
"...our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure."
This week's commemoration of D-Day is a reminder that the conflict he so eloquently described is an ongoing challenge. And we need not look anywhere beyond our own boundaries to see large numbers of people, both leaders and followers, unmoored from reality, embracing conspiracies and trembling with rage about people they have never met, languages they do not understand and harmless differences perceived to be threats.
I always enjoy reading your posts, and today, thanks for a good morning laugh. In your bicycle paragraph, it's PEDAL, not peddle, though a case could be made that China is peddling it's wares on the cheap. Keep up your good work. 👍
I bought an ebike with parts manufactured in China that was assembled in USA. A drop of the tarriffs would presumably lower prices, which would be nice for purchasing a second bike.
It makes no sense at all for anyone to still support a proven rapist, adulterer, thief, liar, traitor, convict and loser.
The idea that he’s neck and neck with a decent man is disgusting.

Sounds really good, please do this as soon as you can.

Jamie, longtime/first time.

Thanks for my daily dose!
Thanks so much for your note. It is not meant to be an attack - just meant to be facts. And thanks for the editing note.

Lincoln said it best and it's still in progress.

I'll have to have a word with the moron who edited that paragraph
