I listened to a few podcasts episodes (Audie Cornish segent from John King; and NPR Code Switch) in recent days that had me startled.

As I saw the results in bellwhethee counties with first polls closed, I felt the 2016 emotions. And it never stopped. White women failed this country again. Quelle surprise.

Now I need Biden to resign a few weeks early to have a spite presidency for Kamala. It won't happen, but it would be amusing.

Jamie, I hope you're not planning to retire because your coverage is what I need to stay sane.

I would love a spite presidency for Kamala. I am absolutely bereft with the election results.

When I saw the exit polls claiming over 50% of voters felt they were worse off now than 4 yrs ago, I felt dread.

Going to work in a couple hours after basically pulling an all nighter. Many of you reading this will be dead, incarcerated, or will have left the country permanently on the 4th anniversary of today - which should be a Presidential election that won't be held. I'm certain I'll be one of those 3 myself. Weep for this country that has now ended, right before our very eyes.

Perk up! Hollywood celebs will be looking for pool boys when they leave the country…

I know I'm probably one of the few centrists who occasionally makes comments here and, my goodness, the angst. Folks, step out of your comfort zone get in touch with people who voted for Trump and understand their POV. Not judge them from afar but have an actual conversation with them. I didn't vote for Trump but listening to others helped me to understand why people voted for him and many of their points are valid. One is they don't like being talked down to by the media.

The world isn't going to end and there will be an election in '28.

I'm surrounded by Trump voters -- in my daily life, my internet life, my family. I listen to their stories, I get to know them, I Iearn how they came to believe what they believe, etc.

Never once has a Trump voter sought that out for me.

Not all of us who are angtsy live in a blue bubble. (Nevermind that plenty of people happily live in a red bubble...)

I take my "job" to know & love people seriously. Absolutely we should know our neighbors (literal, metaphorical). But that doesn't mean I don't worry about things, either.

What exactly constitutes being talked down to in this situation? Because when I watch Fox, I feel contempt for my views and values. I can see where the Trump voters would feel that when they watch CNN, but what about reading newspapers or watching local news? Is being faced with contrary facts "being talked down to"? I'm serious here. Because Trump voters defend him in a snyde tone. Trump calls me an enemy of the people because I'm liberal. Where is the line here? Does it just exist for liberals?

This is an important item because I do believe a lot of the conflict stems from Trump supporters thinking that they aren't respected, especially by the press. As I have experienced hundreds and hundreds of times, a lot of that is simply a distaste for the facts. I can't tell you how many times people have exploded at me over a simple quote of Donald Trump. If I want to send out a story on Twitter, I try never to use a CNN or NY Times story, because people will absolutely lose it.

I've always wanted to try a test. We would have the same commentary and same stories and same presentation - one would be with Fox News anchors, one would be CNN. They would both say the exact same things. I would bet most of the negative/positive reaction would only be because of the network ID's flashed up on the screen.

You’re wrong, he and his convict abusers are going to do literally everything they said they would, from shutting down networks, cutting every regulation that protects human beings, and cutting out the FBI, those in the doj that do their job, fda, education and health departments.

You can try and pretend that simply talking to a magat will show us how wrong we are, but if you hadn’t noticed, magats lie.

They say that they see no color, treat everyone the same, and believe in freedom… but they say that only to those they know would beat the crap out of them if they spoke the truth to them.

To themselves, they speak how much they hate and fear those who are brown or black or Jewish or sick or poor. And if you say that YOU personally don’t hear that, well… they vote for people who do, so they’re lying, too. As are you, if you trust them.

And the upcoming egg prices still won’t satisfy them.

Sure, he fantasizes about executing his enemies and shutting down networks and having RFK in charge of our health and food and helping out putin and xi and un and anyone else that flatters him and pull out of nato and a hundred other sick things... but he’s just a jokester, right? So damn funny.

Here’s what’s coming, and since you won’t be saved if you speak out against them, enjoy your “freedom” while you can, and I’ll laugh when you join us in our jail cells.

The bitterness.... Trump is a boorish jackass but he almost won in '20 and likely would have if not for his ham fisted comments about early/mail in voting. This type of thinking will continue to cause the Democrat party to lose elections. It's what the data shows. Look at the message and not the messenger.

Good advice! My wife takes great offense to being written off as an “un-intelligent Woman Trump supporter.” Valedictorian, medical doctor, huge heart, she also took offense to being expected to vote for the first female president based on her gender. We’re not evil people, and just look at the world with different points of view than those who did not support Trump; and a majority said we’re not alone last night.

“We’re not evil people”

Of course not. Because who would ever admit to be evil?

You, apparently, because you admitted to voting for an evil person. Someone who literally speaks of executing his enemies, who are really just political opponents. Someone who says he’ll shut down networks who criticize or he deems to have harmed him.

You voted for someone who tells the world that Haitians “are eating the dogs”. So, logically, you either believe that’s true (against all the evidence), or you don’t mind that he would shit on human beings and expose them to violence.

Which of those two prove that you’re not evil?

What I told my children today: We will be okay. Our job is to continue to try to make this world a better place. We will continue to serve those who are less fortunate and protect those who need protection, especially those who don't look, love or worship like us. We will be an example of what it truly means to be a light in this world and we will not be afraid.

That's pretty much what I said to my kiddos, too. The moment I let my humanity be cracked is the moment I lose. And I can't let that happen. Wednesday morning, we got up as usual and served at a food pantry in a heavily red county. And gathered for dinner at church with those that I know voted for Trump. And I did my best to let my light shine.

I’m really really really hoping this time, TFG is just full of more hot air than before and him and his cronies have no real intention of following through with any of their fascist threats/plans (jailing his opposition, firing squads, mass deportations, nationwide abortion ban, tariffs, cutting SS, getting rid of the ACA, RFK jr, Elon, etc,) but if his first presidency showed us anything, if any of it is true, my heart aches for the future of our nation and the world 😔

Since the Biden/Trump debate, I said here that the Media was giving Trump the elections in silver platter. The MSM controls the message. While they question Biden mental intelect and physical fitness over and over, they left Trump alone. While FOX, Newsmax and other conservative outlets were pounding the table, CNN, MSNBC and others were giggling.

One thought from last night.

The traditional ground game is not as effective as it once was. The use of online ground game has taken over.

However, I would recommend the Democrats to take this infrastructure and play the long game by doing outreach to parts of the electorate they have done poorly (rural and non college students). Doing this investment with the idea of being competitive instead of giving up big areas and demographics.

When trying to do outreach & understanding they need to walk with people, not just read a book and have a news special.

From President Ronald Reagan's famous ad, "It is morning in America..." Unlike elections in 1984, we know that ethics, honesty, and civility don't seem to make a difference in how we choose our leaders. It is a particular tough morning for me as I am sure it is for others. I remember when George Bush was defeated and I was wringing my hands the next morning, worried about my country and my children's future...I find myself doing a little bit of the same this morning. I am boosted with the knowledge though that while someone may be elected by rhetoric that appeals to some and by promises, many of which can not be accomplished, those who have been elected will now have to govern and as we all know, that is most often the hard part. If they don't do it well, there is another election coming for the entire House of Representatives and a good part of the Senate in two years and as in some past elections this country could see a correction. As I live and breath, of course, I hope.

That’s the one saving grace from the results. It’s still a tightly divided country and with the Republicans taking charge they will govern with hubris and ego and not with humility and patience. Therefore, I see a correction in two years.

I am curious to see if/when someone figures out how to have a governing majority. I fear the failure that will look like, but I have faith and hope that people want to try for a better world.

Among the losers today that expert pollster in Iowa that had Harris winning Iowa by 9 points. She must of been smoking those corn stalks. And Professor Alan Lichtman who has the guaranteed method of predicting the winner. I think his toupee might have been too tight. And don’t blame me I voted for Harris.
