Todays Muse of History is really interesting to me. How much did holding off on payroll taxes back then affect where social security is today? It makes me think of how you could implement something, say how great it is, and then a year later say “see? Nothing bad happened”. Then there is 10, 20, 30 years etc down the line. And by that point everyone has forgotten what caused the current problem...
But improving IRS customer service doesn’t play into the boogeyman narrative of the GOP. Or the IRS being able to collect more taxes from the tax cheats.
