McCarthy was a really good communicator for the GOP - but he did not exercise good judgment on that Sunday, absolutely lying through his teeth about what had happened in the past few days in Congress. I think that interview doomed him, because Democrats looked at it and said - who needs that guy around?

Trump supporters attacking police, breaking down windows and doors to get into the building, and forcing lawmakers to flee. The GOP convinced their own supporters that the tapes would show something different (you know, Antifa), which is just nuts.
