It’s ironic that 45 is now using Ashli Babbitt in an Iowa stump speech for re-election. If one person is responsible for that brainwashed deluded person being in DC and illegally going through that window and consequently being killed on Jan. 6, it’s Donald J Trump.
You are absolutely correct. If not for Trump's Big Lie and his rally on Jan. 6, people like Ashli Babbitt would never have been in Washington to ransack the Capitol. Frankly, Trump supporters are lucky that the cops didn't shoot a whole bunch of people.
The normalization of things like January 6 is mind blowing to me. The fact that there are elected politicians that agree with what happened that day, to the point of supporting those who did it, reminds me that it’s not impossible for us to lose the voice in the government we currently have.
I still think back to how I reported immediately that it was Trump supporters who were attacking the Capitol, and I was repeatedly savaged on social media for saying that - because everyone was peddling the line that it was Antifa, etc.
They are still doing it to this day. Not a week goes by without some below the belt message on social media. Many of my old listeners - who came mainly from conservative talk radio stations - still drop by on a regular basis to let me have it. They still can't accept that Trump lost. They still are pushing debunked conspiracy theories of election fraud. They still can't deal with the aftermath of Jan. 6. And yet - I'm the one who is the problem.
I've seen your old pal Boortz getting blistered by the kooks on social media as well for speaking the truth. I'd like to think they would listen to his reason given his reputation but it doesn't seem to stick. Is the 2020 "stolen election" the new modern day version of the "flat earth?"
Boortz gets savaged every time he tells people that Trump is a liar about the 2020 election. There will be a lot of people who will never let it go. The worst part is that they don't have a shred of evidence to stand on.
For some people, you and Boortz were just props to justify what they believed because they wanted to believe it. Now they're mad because you won't prop them up.
I’m starting to think there should be a push to add “how not to be a victim of a cult & other brainwashing techniques 101” classes to our public school curriculum. Though I have a feeling that would not be politically expedient for some of these politicians who use these tactics to manipulate their base. It’s pretty scary to watch.
We used to talk a lot about how Islamic terrorists were 'radicalized' on the internet. IMHO, there are a lot of Trump supporters who have been 'radicalized' on the internet in recent years when it comes to the 2020 election.
It's like how all the people who had been proud to call themselves fundamentalist Christians started calling themselves evangelicals after 9/11. They didn't want to be associated with the fundamentalist Muslims who attacked the US. But I honestly believe that some of them would form the same kind of society as the terrorists wanted, if they had enough power. It's what we're seeing with the conservatives becoming authoritarian.
I've watched this drama all my life and never cease wondering how defense spending -- by far the biggest item of them all -- almost never gets mentioned. And even now Schumer's perfunctory get-out-of-jail-free card is quietly read into the record.
In 1995, Speaker Gingrich said it was time to transform the Pentagon into a Triangle - arguing there had to be waste inside the military. That effort to trim defense spending went nowhere. We will soon have $1 trillion yearly defense budgets.
Regarding the SkyNet info - RAS added an update (today) to the article you linked, indicating that the Colonel who made the presentation said he 'mis-spoke' - and that the 'simulation' he described was actually a hypothetical thought experiment from outside the military, and not an actual real-world simulation. In my view there is still a legitimate concern here that is well worth discussion, but apparently this specific event was not quite as 'real' as originally described.

I can’t imagine all the things people were saying to you. I guess by getting mad and not accepting the truth they didn’t have to self-analyze.

Yup. Some folks have been studying their playbook and following suit 😐
Love your Holy Trinity of "inadequate".

smh

I think some streamlining of processes would not only save us money, but probably serve us well in a war.

Well it sure sounds like there is reason for legitimate concern. We don't make Sci-Fi movies for nothing, eh?
Ashil Babbitt being killed was my tax dollars at work. Thank you, Capitol Police.
Ashli Babbitt is the very definition of FAFO.
