going to upgrade to paid as I really enjoy Mr Dupree's work...
re: WORK SCHEDULE. Part of the problem is that lawmakers aren't on Capitol Hill enough to do their work. For example, since the House left town at the end of June, lawmakers have worked 5 weeks. They won't be back until after the elections. So, that's working 5 of 19 weeks.
Something has to be done.....this is ludicrous.....they get paid a high GS salary to show up 25% of the time? and when they do, they cant get anything done....???
It's a tough life to have to work that difficult schedule! I always love hearing members get defensive about what they did during the extended Congressional breaks, talking about all of the meetings they had around the district (cry me a river). You can't get bills done if you aren't in Washington, D.C.
That is true - they don't work 5 days a week on legislative business. They don't like being at work on the Hill, and then they get tired of being at home as well.
I love this newsletter. Still the first thing I read each morning. Very often I get news I don't see anywhere else. I love the little tidbits about the mechanics of covering the news on Capitol Hill, how things work there, etc. I'd be first in line to buy your book if you get around to writing it.
Regarding Zelensky’s visit, my first assumption is that the GOP are just being pests. But before I run with that, are there legitimate concerns behind either the plane or the visit to the factory?
I don't see anything legit here other than they just want to do the work of the guy running for President, who clearly doesn't like Ukraine, but likes Putin.
I think they want to oppose aid to Ukraine, but then not be called out for opposing aid to Ukraine. They would also like to have their cake and eat it too if you don’t mind.
I would understand if they wanted to verify where the munitions are going to ensure the spending was more effective than the COVID funds. But that’s not what they’re arguing. Just throwing fits just so they can be different.

On top of that, the weeks they do work everyone flies in on Monday and depart Thursday afternoon.
In other words, the 5/19 is rounded up!

Thanks Denise. I really appreciate the support!

Thank you. The obvious and easiest explanation is usually the correct one!

That video was incredible -- does he just ignore all reporters?! 👀
How does Kean not even crack a smile? "What are you having for lunch?" Even I chuckled.
I wondered the same thing. That guy is cold-blooded.
I've seen very little press of Robinson's words of 'Martin Lucifer Koon'. Perhaps it's too disgusting for prime time?
But recently Trump said Robinson was Martin Luther King on steroids. Just another of the many poor judgements of character by Donald J Trump.
