I think it's pretty obvious that Hunter Biden was trying to play off of his family name and his father to make some money - and it came at a time when he was struggling to keep his from going off the rails. All of the stuff that's at issue - to my understanding - happened before Biden became President. What the GOP hopes to accomplish is exactly what they did with Benghazi - they want to hold hearings and fire off subpoenas and paint the picture of a corrupt Biden family + Democrats. If you watch Fox News / Newsmax / crazy channels, etc., the viewers are fed a very steady diet of Hunter Biden, like it's a pot boiling over on the stove. My thought is simple - if Hunter Biden violated the law, prosecute him like anyone else.

They can't resist it. And if you don't watch conservative TV, you have no idea how this is their top story most days. It will make Benghazi look like chump change.

I totally get what you're saying. On the other hand, leadership is also a function of who gets involved. If you don't want NY MA CA, then you can look at the current leadership which was CA MD SC. The Dems have no standouts from PA, OH, MI, IL or WI. The South is a desert for Democrats, as are the Plains states. And you have no real veterans from NM, AZ, NV as alternatives.

"If we could keep it about Hunter Biden - this is kind of a big deal we think,” Comer said. Hilarious. Part of me is delighted the GOP-controlled House is now going to focus on revenge and pettiness. It will provide a nice contrast for voters in 2024.

Pelosi’s departure also provides some interesting context to consider. Folks were so mad over the healthcare legislation the Dems passed in 2010, they were stripped of power. In 2022, the ACA is considered historic and transformative. Let’s see how historic and transformative the Hunter Biden probe is for the GOP.

And just to be clear - no business can be conducted by the House until there is a Speaker. So everything is on hold until that's done.

The House simply keeps voting until someone gets a full majority of those voting. There has not been a multiple ballot situation in almost 100 years - since 1923.

There won't be a special Hunter Biden committee. It will all be done through the Oversight panel and the Judiciary Committee. Democrats learned the right choice during Benghazi. They threatened at first to boycott - then realized that would clear the field for the GOP. McCarthy didn't learn that same lesson - and so boycotting the Jan. 6 probe has been a major mistake for Republicans - but was good for the country.

The local AG's in DC and VA are pursuing it, but not in MD where the team's stadium is. You can draw your own conclusion.

Keep it to Hunter? It shouldn't even be about Hunter. The only possible question would be "Did VP Biden use government resources or make government backed promises or threats on behalf of Hunter." Otherwise it's an "investigation into a private company." Even if Hunter was the only employee.

I may have personal issues with the Mormon church but if they back the marriage act I have no doubt any church should be satisfied that it doesn't force their hand.

Just when you think Rep Greene can no longer do something surprising, she backs McCarthy.

If the House is going to investigate Hunter, maybe the Senate should investigate the Trump kids. Far more there to work with. I think Kushner alone should get his own investigation.

Comer is ending the Commanders probe, but it sounds like the actions in question were actual crimes. Do you think the DOJ is investigating? Will the Senate take up the investigation to show up the Republicans?

Jamie please, your take on exactly why Hunter Biden is of consequence. He is/was a private citizen. Anything that might be on “the laptop” really doesn’t seem to compromise the President of the US. I just don’t understand what the GOP hopes to accomplish.

When Marjorie Taylor Greene becomes the voice of compromise Republicans start to look a little stupid. Sarcastic understatement is intended.

What happens if McCarthy doesn't get the votes for speaker? What's the process?
