That Pelosi and company footage was crazy. And I sort of love even with his life in jeopardy, Schumer still uses the word “effing.” My vocabulary in that moment would have been far more explicit.
I knew the Afghanistan rapid withdrawal was crafted by Trump before he left office but I didn't know the original date had been set for January 15, the day before Biden's inauguration. It was bad enough later but had it started then it would have been unimaginably more chaotic.
Even now most Americans still have no idea how close we came to a government meltdown January 6. We owe a debt of gratitude to Congress and the leadership of both houses for following protocol that night. Civil order was hanging by a thread.
It's notable that body man Johnny McEntee drafted the memo - which was then sent to Kash Patel - who had been installed over at the Pentagon. Patel is the same guy caught up in the classified documents caper involving Trump.
Florida has a state law which says voters may cast their ballots only in their home precincts. DeSantis can't set up temporary voting centers. The county doesn't get to "figure out where they go" - the law is clear. Can't set up large single voting centers, either. Governors can't just arbitrarily waive laws when it suits their needs or there is no point in having them in the first place - now is there?
In other words, executive changes to make it easier to vote are only okay if it's done by a GOP Governor - that's what we're about to watch. And then someone immediately say - but this isn't the same as the changes made after COVID in 2020 - oblivious to how it's exactly the same thing.
I don't have any problem with doing what we have to do that the Florida voters can vote despite the natural disaster that sent them scattering. My only problem is that DeSantis opposed changes to voting rules for the COVID disaster but now thinks changes are okay.
Jamie, do you have any insight on how the hurricane will affect turnout and results in Florida?
The three counties making these changes all voted for Trump. Lee County is the biggest - the 8th largest county by population in Florida, with just over half a million registered voters. They had 220k+ votes cast in 2020 by mail. One would think those numbers might drop because of the damage - but we'll see.

My favorite part is when Schumer tells Pelosi that he just talked to Kamala, and Pelosi looks at him as if to say WHO THE HELL CARES?
🤣🤣🤣
My dream presidential ballot for 2024
NOT Donald Trump (R)
NOT Joe Biden (D)
Sigh
I frankly think that's a dream for a lot of people
How this nation has fallen... Those two were the best candidates we could find?
