Thank you for grabbing that offensive "colored people" remark last night shortly after it was said. Together with the wholesale vote to retain Confederate names, that reveals the ongoing racist undercurrents in the GOP.

So to be clear, people of color good, colored people bad. Got it.

Anybody else ever notice comments like Ron’s here only show up on Freebie Fridays? It’s telling.

So, you're just choosing to be willfully ignorant on the marked differences and histories associated with those two phrases. Got it.

To be clear, that term "colored people" is a condescending reflection of polite racism. As someone born and reared in the South I was nearly grown before understanding that. My grandmother (who was the only person I ever heard use the word "octoroon" in a sentence) made a distinction between White Lady and Colored Woman.

"Octoroon" ... I learned a new word today.

But, I get Ron's point and your point. Yeah, colored people has some unpleasant baggage with it and should be avoided but it's darn close to PoC.
