It's amazing that the simple act of reporting what politicians are saying and doing can then translate into crazy stuff like that.

I don't regard it as a waste of time, but rather a necessary way to let off steam. Yes, it might be like the dozens and dozens of votes to repeal the Obama health law which went nowhere - but they also send a message to the faithful.

Grateful for all you do Jamie. Hurts my heart that so much toxic vitriol gets thrown your way for simply reporting facts (and not “alternative” facts either.) Keep up the great work.

Hi Tom. Thanks so much for your support. It's great to have you here. McCarthy and the GOP will have to vote to increase the debt limit at some point. No one is going to balance the budget in one year. So that means it probably waits until the last minute. I think it would be smarter for the GOP to suspend the debt limit until September 30 to match up with the end of the fiscal year. That would give Republicans time to pass their bills with budget cuts in them. Let's see what happens.

Do the republicans not realize that no matter how many amendments they have in their useless little anti-American bills, they won’t pass the senate, and they won’t get signed by Biden, so they are utterly pointless?

What a waste of time.

Help me understand the proposed amendments procedure.

I presume "proposed" means they must pass a vote by the whole House before becoming official. Does that change then have to be approved by the Senate before being submitted to the president?

I suppose what comes out of Buddy Carter’s pie hole is always good for a chuckle at least. I saw Boortz on Twitter similarly calling Hakeem Jeffries a liar for quoting the Fair Tax’s own figures. Based on some of the comments being tweeted at you, it appears when the facts aren’t on your side, the only tool left for these folks is meanness. It’s almost like they learned that from a former president or something. So, what’s the over/under on the Fair Tax getting a vote in the House at this point?

Hi Jamie. I love your substack email - I look forward to it everyday. In regards to the debt limit crisis, do you think Leader McCarthy will pass on this fight and ultimately support a vote to raise the debt ceiling much like the last minute drama of 2011? Does it have the support to get past a filibuster of the Senate?

In the off chance I get nominated to be a federal judge I can now confidently report that I know what the Daubert standard is AND the seven Articles of the US Constitution.

Rep. Castor should be grateful she got a vote on her amendment at all. I can't believe Members allowed their leadership to run the House this way (on both sides) for seven years. If I were in the House I'd just tell people not to count for my vote on any closed rule.

The debate around Social Security and Medicare is so sterile. Cutting these would not help alleviate the federal debt as their balances are not factored into that number. OTOH my social security statement basically says "under current law and projections when you retire we can only pay you .73 on the dollar." So what's being done to address that shortfall? Doing nothing means an automatic cut, so if we're going to "leave Social Security alone" what that REALLY means is people retiring in about 15 years will be screwed. Thanks for "protecting Social Security" guys. Great job, everyone.

The whole hullabaloo over Newsmax reminds of the Dixie Chicks. This time the Republicans are throwing the hissy fit.
