Just curious why I only heard about Justice Alito’s writings about flags from you. Seems like finding Supreme Court opinion wouldn’t be that hard to find and reference. Excellent point I can interject with friends and colleagues today. Thank you.

Wow. The Alito flag thing. We can only get info like that from you. Despite subscribing to major news publications including the NY Times and WaPo, I only saw this from you. Thank you, again, for all you do for us.

Excellent reporting on the Boston flag opinion by Alito.

All these guys blaming their wives, just like Adam blamed Eve. How well did that turn out?

As for Trump’s sentencing, I say they order him to house arrest with no social media, internet, or phone. And only MSNBC & CNN for TV.

GOP. I live in the Sunshine state and like a reasonable citizen, I follow my politicians' statements. It was within minutes of the verdict and my impression was that the posting of official statements and Tweets was the most coordinated thing the GOP has done in recent memory.

Flag Flap. Holy Crap! I'm sitting here with my mouth agape. Thank you for your work!

“Chief Justice to Democrats: Drop Dead.” LOL. Thank you for the moment of levity, Mr. Dupree. Nearly 50 years later, the legacy of that classic NY Daily News headline lives on.

MY IDOL, EUGENE V DEBS CAN INSPIRE

DONALD TRUMP TO ASPIRE

I’m hoping the Eugene V Debs cell is available

Now that Trump is assailable

He can run his campaign

While being constrained

Behind the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary walls

Among other felons in their stalls

But there is this fact

While he continues to keep his campaign on track

He will not be able to vote

For Florida has a law of note

That convicted felons can’t vote

So let’s again make Georgia the center

To see that Donald has a Federal residence to enter

"He funneled money through Michael Cohen to keep Daniels quiet. But is that a felony crime? Should Trump have been on trial? That's a whole different debate." he did it that's a fact and it's been done before and will be done again. Seeing it was national election you would think it would be a felony, but who knows. I wonder when this will end up in from of the Supreme Court?

So, if the results of the legal process in New York should be respected, as we're being told from Democrats, then shouldn't what comes from the Supreme Court be respected as well? Seems like both parties aren't being honest with themselves.

As a liberal, I respect the result in that I accept it is the law of the land, and that nothing I can do can change that, even when I disagree. But unlike most Republicans, I am at least looking at the facts of the cases I disagree with. The bedrock problem is that a huge portion of the American electorate believes whatever Trump says, even when it's completely false.

Maybe, and only maybe if, Alito and Clarence are recused...

Sorry but it doesn't work that way. I'm no fan of Trump but Alito and Clarence, are no more or less biased than the judge who oversaw Trumps trial. Bottom line, you take the judge(justice) and jury you're dealt.

I respectfully beg to differ, Judge Merchan bent over backwards to accommodate a very contumacious ex-president. Judge Merchan isn’t anything like the thumb their noses style of Justices Alito and Thomas. Drop dead indeed!

Could you provide a few example of when, how and where Judge Merchan showed any bias towards the ex president?

Expand full comment

In the case there was no bias shown however, just like Alito, you can look behavior outside the court, be it political donations or family activity (and in this case Merchan's and his family support Democrat causes), and think "this guy/family is supporting my political enemy, he therefore biased against me." The point is judges have outside lives and they, regardless of their leanings, do their best to put biases aside. If this verdict should be accepted, and it should, then let's not grouse about SCOTUS decisions and call the court illegitimate.

Good for you. I wish more people would do that kind of homework.
