The House still owns the old Page Dorm. I've often thought they should make it into a boarding house for lawmakers. It might be a way to make them all get to know each other, and it's close to the Capitol.

I'm reminded of the TV Series "Alpha House" with John Goodman. It only lasted two seasons but was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. It's about four Senators sharing a house in DC.

That was a real situation. Sen. Schumer lived with Sen Durbin of Illinois + Rep. George Miller of California. I think one of them slept in the dining room

I'm for requiring them to live in a dorm. If barracks are good enough for our military, then a dorm is darn sure good enough for representatives. And senators, for that matter.

While the Ethics Committee chair will be a Republican, the panel is always split evenly.

Still waiting for all the details, but if she's just an Independent who caucuses with the Democrats, nothing changes at all. Sanders VT and King ME already do the same. But it's been nearly 2 hours since the announcement, and not a single Senate Democrat has said a word about it - so still waiting to see.

The GOP response to Griner‘s release was laughably predictable and precisely the reaction Russia intended. One thing they naturally overlooked — Whelan was snatched during 45’s presidency as John Bolton pointed out yesterday.

Re: same sex marriage: it was nice to see Pelosi with one last historic win as her tenure winds down. As always, Jim Jordan provided comic relief: "The Supreme Court is not poised to overturn its opinions.” He actually said that with a straight face.

But the Oscar goes to Rep. Hartzler. Also: “Protect Americans who believe in the true meaning of marriage”? Is that like the true meaning of Christmas? Or does Rep. Hartzler and her white Jesus sky daddy solely get to decide which of our relationships are “true”? Hilarious.

Ditto. All of the above.

For all you fake patriots who say that trump would have brought Whelan home, the only question is….

Since he was taken prisoner while trump was in office, why didn’t trump bring Whelan home? It’s a simple question, so I’m sure I’ll get a logical response.

"bitterly attacking the White House for not freeing an ex-Marine being held by Moscow on charges of espionage." - maybe that wasn't on the table, Captain Obvious. Jesus, these people JUST NEVER SHUT UP do they?

Thanks for this very informative article.

Drilling around this afternoon I came across a number of links about the Paul Whelan backstory, part of which is quietly being overlooked by most reporting. Little mention is made of the fact that he was a US Marine but he was given a bad conduct discharge for charges of larceny. At the time of his arrest he was employed by a private auto parts company.

Representative Frost should ask congressional interns for recommendations on where to stay. As I remember there were many boarding houses close by. Not fancy but dry and warm

Only lately have I paid attention to the FTX fiasco but I'm glad it's getting attention in Congress. Something tells me it will end with more hot air than action but hopefully the exposure of another conman will get some attention.

This hour-long podcast is very insightful for those with time to listen. (The transcript is helpful to keep track of which person is speaking since their voices sound so much alike.)

I cannot comment intelligently because I don't fully understand the technical or accounting particulars of how virtual assets are managed. I was surprised to discover that the IRS has extensive forms and guidelines for how they are covered by tax policy so that might be a place to look.

Tell us, oh Senate Guru… what affect will Sinema switching to Independent have on the committee structures?

And I know it’s been done before, but isn’t a kind of fraud to be elected because she was a dem, and then somehow decide not to be a dem, especially after seeing how her state’s Governor and other senator is a dem?

She's a powerful woman who disagrees with them. This is a preemptive strike, like the Benghazi hearings.
