Everyone needs to "buy you a coffee" 😉 after you go through those tapes today. I'm guessing that likely it will need to be a bit stronger than coffee.

Perhaps Ms. Willis could emphasize her point by filing an obstruction charge against Mr. Jordan.

Heather Cox Richardson's "Letters From an American" this morning cites an important statement by the George W. Bush Presidential Center, endorsed by twelve other presidential centers.

Presidential Foundations and Centers across the United States, for the first time, have issued a joint statement regarding the future of our nation and an urgent call to action for all Americans.

Jamie and Heather are my two "go to's" each morning. I honestly don't have to read anything else.

➤ JAMIE'S THREAD...

Courtesy of the House Administration Committee, I had 3 hours today to view Capitol security tapes from Jan. 6.

What I saw was familiar - Donald Trump supporters attacking police, smashing their way into the Capitol, and forcing lawmakers to flee from the House and Senate. 🧵1/

I have no idea how people think these Capitol security tapes will exonerate anyone or change what happened on Jan. 6.

Frankly, the tapes are simply chock full of video evidence that can send a lot of people to jail. 2/

I'm a reporter, so I see nothing wrong with releasing many of the Jan. 6 tapes that I watched today.

It's exactly what you've seen already - like this from the Senate wing door that was breached by rioters. 3/

The tapes tell a very simple story. Rioters surrounded the building, tried to force their way in, fought with security and police, and then ultimately overwhelmed police to get into the Capitol. 4/

The Jan. 6 security tapes I saw today showed Pence, McCarthy, Senators, House members, all running for safety. The video clearly shows rioters breaking windows, prying open doors, and repeatedly assaulting police officers.

More later. fin/

For those of us in Atlanta who have been following Ms. Willis’ career since the APS cheating scandal, her letter to Jordan prompted cackles and dramatic readings. My fave line was when she quoted Jordan back to Jordan: “Furthermore, your note calls to mind another letter recently submitted to a House select committee: "This unprecedented action serves no legitimate legislative purpose and would set a dangerous precedent for future Congresses . .. the American people deserve better." See Letter from Rep. Jim Jordan to Chairman Bennie Thompson dated January 9, 2022“

I love the cliffhanger for the writeup on what you see on the tapes.

It's going to be really interesting to see what you, and other journalists, have to say after watching the tapes. I'm intrigued by the timing. I know that there have been many, many requests for access to these tapes - so what changed? Why is this happening now?

“Senators went home for the weekend”

I just can’t understand how Schumer doesn’t force votes all weekend, every day, every night, to approve the military promotions necessary... allowing Tuberhead to get away with this is unconscionable.

I get that sentiment, but it would take almost 3 months - nonstop - to get them all done.

Yes, and picking and choosing a small number of specific promotions to vote on, while leaving the rest to languish, won't solve the problem - but might take some of the heat off of Tuberville.

Tuberville is a symptom, not the problem.
