The Freedom Caucus is keeping the whole Republican from getting anything done at all.

Here is the ultimate irony - by opposing the GOP leadership and not being team players, the Freedom Caucus makes the final product MORE LIBERAL. Why? Because the GOP leadership will need the votes of Democrats to pass the government funding bills. And so, the Dems will be able to ask for a few more things than they otherwise might get - All because of the Freedom Caucus.

I will say it again - I have never seen a group that is so loud, and yet so legislatively bad. Their tactics and legislative acumen are terrible.

On Tuesday, MTG said “I’m kind of sick of the chaos. I came here to be serious about solving problems, not to produce clickbait". And then what did she do on Wednesday at the Hunter Biden hearing? Create chaos and produce clickbait.

When I got up this morning, I realized I had forgotten to add that quote - because yes, it was the exact definition of chaos and clickbait.

Re: Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) asking his constituents, “Do you support or oppose a government shutdown to force the White House and Congress to implement policies to secure the southern border?"

Having driven through Georgia’s 9th district many times, I’m reminded of an old dilapidated barn I pass over there. Because it sits at an intersection, for years, the farmer had an enormous “Trump/Pence” sign on the barn. When we drove past it after the Jan 6 attack, the sign was still there but Pence’s name had been removed with white paint.

The barn Is down the road from a produce stand notable for its permanently affixed “Peches” sign.

While MTG often casts her vote against the GOP leadership, Clyde is one of those lawmakers who talks tough about what should be done, but doesn't take the step to do much about it. He was right there with the knot of Freedom Caucus members engaging with Speaker Johnson on the floor yesterday - but Clyde did not vote to bring down the rule to showcase his anger about that topline spending deal. Lots of talk, not as much action.

Jamie, how many of your readers will get the Alfred E Newman reference? Another priceless surprise and why you have a second career waiting in dry comedy.

Probably only people who are 60+ will understand that one. Glad you caught it. I love coming up with a cornball headline that only takes 2 or 3 words. For those who don't understand, Alfred E. Newman - the smiling, gap-toothed guy in Mad Magazine, had a line which was, "What, me worry?" That certainly applies to the Speaker today.

Jamie, being 65, I instantly thought of “What, me worry?” Gave me a good laugh! 😂

Do you remember when Trump was trying to insult Pete Buttigieg and he nicknamed him Alfred E Newman? Buttigieg was too young to get the reference and admitted he had to google it.

I'm also under 60 and know who Alfred is. Mad Magazine was published regularly as late as 2018 or so.

I didn't know about the lapel pins. I mean, I knew a lot of representatives wore them but didn't know a new one was designed for each Congress.

How can a guy who brings a 9mm semi-automatic pistol to the Capitol only get 5 years PROBATION?! If we're going to become a banana republic, let's at least jail all opposition to the Republic after they've had a fair trial.
