It’s inexplicable that Harris/Walz took five days off instead of hopping on a bus departing Chicago to barnstorm and capitalize on their convention momentum. Wasn’t it Walz who said “we’ll sleep when we’re dead”? The only thing that helps is 45 also hasn’t been campaigning (unless you count posting conspiracy theories on his Dollar Tree Twitter from his golden toilet). Plus, Congress has been out of session forever. The House isn’t doing much to help their guy by taking a month’s vacation.
Speaking of ballot access, don't forget the Peach State. An Administrative Law judge ruled this week that four third-party and/or independent candidates are not eligible to be on the ballot (all due to paperwork issues). However, that ruling is not the last word. Brad Raffensperger is actually the one who makes the final decision.
Thank you for opening today's summary with a meticulous documentation of Trump's personality disorder as reflected in the Afghanistan debacle. This dovetails perfectly with reports lately about the growing extremism of the Taliban (bonfires burning musical instruments and laws forbidding female voices or faces in public). Another NPR report this morning also underscores the point, noting his Shakespearean vulnerability to paranoid delusions.
Thank you for continuing to highlight the border deal. RFK ballot was also hilarious. And I'm enjoying this Sasse story. I caught the Bobby Bonilla reference.
Now, for the 2020 election bit where GOP is blaming their own administration, that's entertaining. I would like to see an interpretation that points out how he can't pick good appointees or leaders who listen to him. Which, yes that is good. But that is what he is trying to "fix" with project 2025's bureaucratic overhaul.

Rep. Darrell Issa (D-CA) is actually a Republican and not a Democrat as your article states.
Thanks! Sometimes I make a mistake!
