So GOP types decide to make fun of Gus Walz. How would that have gone over if liberals made fun of Barron Trump? It's WRONG. They should be ashamed of themselves. The problem is, they are not! It reminds me of the time Trump made fun of that disabled reporter way back in 2016. Deplorable. They got that nickname for a reason.
Thank you for another successful convention, Jamie. Your coverage always gives me something I don't see in the "mainstream" media.
The surge of social media posts from young content creators at the DNC this week has been nonstop. I’m not sure you would have seen that at a Biden convention. They’re all in for Harris and seem determined to get young people invested in this historic election on platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Threads.
I’m not seeing that amplification of youth voice on the other side unless you count the same half dozen 20-something “undecideds” the NYT keeps interviewing. These social media savvy Harris supporters going viral could have a far bigger impact on this race than any endorsement from RFK Jr.
I keep politics away from my Instagram and I don’t use TikTok, so I was taken aback when ) heard an interview where her comms director talked about the budget they’ve set aside for social media for influencers. It just hadn’t occurred to me.
The old, curmudgeony side of me scoffs. But I am glad they adapt and meet people wherever they are.
I loved Adam Kinsinger's speech. "Donald Trump is a weak man pretending to be strong. He is a small man pretending to be big. He’s a faithless man pretending to be righteous. He’s a perpetrator who can’t stop playing the victim. He puts on—listen—he puts on quite a show, but there is no real strength there."
Thanks Jamie for your EXCELLENT coverage, especially your putting it all in context. How you did it without a crew (as the mainstream media outlets had) is beyond me. How about a column on how you pulled it all off?
Republicans had every reason to be confident with Trump running against Biden. Harris appeals to many more people than Biden. And with this convention, even though the scheduling was awful, the live time isn't what will get votes. Clips will be replayed over and over. That's what will get more and more people, especially those under 30, to get out and vote for Harris. Unless Republicans manage to do something extraordinary quickly, Harris will be the next President.. I also think the down ticket Democrats will do better with Harris at the top.

I think it was also a good idea to include Ella Emhoff in the convention. She looks like many of the young voters that Democrats need to reach.

TNX for the reporting last 4 days -- get some sleep

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of bounce Harris-Walz get and if it seems to be permanent. Especially, if the debate goes bad for Trump.
As the campaign progresses, how well do the Dems hold up when looking at their policy proposals. I would anticipate a few with vague details.
They’ve done well letting Trump fill the void.
This morning's letter from Heather Cox Richardson is an interesting lookback at the history of our political conventions.

“I will support the nominee” and “I support Trump” are two totally different things in politics
The Capitol Police were at the DNC?
"suddenly a group of U.S. Capitol Police officers rushed up to the door"
Oh yeah, many jurisdictions were here.
This feels like something I once knew and then forgot. Thanks for the reminder.
