Thanks for the Saturday edition, Mr. Dupree, staying up late and for providing the House vote tally. As you keep reminding us, none of this is normal. The Dems once again saved the speaker’s behind in a GOP-led chamber. And at the rate of GOPers running for the exits, Hakeem Jeffries could be speaker before Nov. And whether she’s sentient enough to realize it, MTG may have just helped push through aid to Ukraine. She’s like the Urkel of the House of Reps. Speaking of TV comedies, the House right now feels like one of those 12:55 SNL sketches. It’s weird, surreal, deeply unfunny and keeps you awake.

"I’m not sure what booting out Johnson would achieve at this time."

Chaos and the resulting paralysis are the goal and booting Johnson out would achieve that. This is entirely in Trump's favor; it is done to please him. Think of the stump speech Trump will give: "Look at how Congress can't do its job! Vote ME in as dictator (for a day), because only then can I fix this and save you!".

I really do hope America understands what is going on here; MTG is throwing yet another grenade into our Democratic institutions.

To hell with the Republican Party cowards that stand by mutely watching or choose to scuttle away; they should be standing and fighting next to the Democratic Party members that are holding as firm as they can against this madness. I will never forget who cravenly abandoned America.

Fascinating history muse this morning. I had to study the link to figure out the meaning of that florid prose. It seems states rights were already challenging national interests. A few sentences earlier the reference to the "States" could not "confederate" for national purposes was a prescient reference to the formation of a Confederacy which a few years later would erupt as a Civil War.

Rob Wittman, the Republican who represents the Virginia district adjoining Bob Good’s, is a conservative. Good and his ilk are reactionaries who should be identified as such.
