If the GOP doesn't like being yelled at maybe they should stop yelling at everyone who is not in lockstep with them!!

Exactly. When your side is sitting in the House chamber wearing a red MAGA cult hat (in violation of House rules) and screeching at the president like a rabid barnyard animal on live television you lack any credibility to whine about etiquette.

Fascinating Muse of History today. I ended up interviewing John Ehrlichman a few times in the 90s after he moved to Atlanta. I even had a chance to delve into questions about his former boss when a local gallery hosted an exhibition of his WH sketches drawn while serving in the RMN administration. I always admired his frankness and how he took responsibility for his role in Watergate and also how he successfully moved on after doing his time.

If not for Watergate, the Ellsberg break-in would be a much bigger stain on Nixon's legacy

Have these people never heard Inmate #PO1135809 speak?

Two things…

1. Like a monkey at the zoo, i fully expected Marge to fling her own poop at the dias.

2. Halfway through, was expecting Ms. Britt to bust into her dinner theater version of Scarlet’s soliloquy..

I am appreciating the efforts of the members of the House attempting to get this border/Ukraine bill up for a vote. If they get enough signatures and have enough votes, is there anything Mike Johnson can do to stop it at that point?

Surely I'm misunderstanding the budget process. Jamie points out how unusual it is for the majority party to need votes from the minority party to get the budget bills passed. Does this mean the normal procedure is to ignore the minority party? Or just that usually the majority can pass it on their own but that they usually get 'yeah' votes from the minority party, too?

Often it is all done by the majority until there's a final deal by the appropriators. But the GOP is too divided to do that, so they need a lot of D votes

Jamie is correct. The "majority" party typically crafts budgets which include bipartisan features.

Unfortunately House rules (very much like a filibuster in the Senate) enable a group of extremists to block bipartisan features -- in this case Ukraine support and border issues -- to keep those hot-button subjects alive for the election.

Thanks for the replies. Confirms how insane government is.

MTG got Biden to say "illegal". That may be the greatest accomplishment ever from the MAGA crowd. I bet she's really proud of herself.

Sorry for this rant……I am so tired of members of Congress sitting for hours on the day of the State of the Union Address so they can be seen with the President. This is both sides mind you. These people have just become attention wh@r-$. End of rant

Imagine if they logged that much time actually legislating and getting things done instead of planning their next vacation from DC.
