KYRSTEN. While it doesn’t change the control of the U.S. Senate, Democrats were jolted on Friday as Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema announced she was leaving the Democratic Party - and switching her party affiliation to independent. It came three days after Democrats won a final Senate race in Georgia to secure a majority.
SINEMA. "I have joined the growing numbers of Arizonans who reject party politics by declaring my independence from the broken partisan system in Washington," Sinema said in a statement.
